Seagate Data Recovery (ST2000DM001)

Checked in a Seagate (ST2000DM001) 2TB drive. The drive was not being recognized by the customer’s desktop and the drive was also making really bad scratching sounds. After opening the drive in our Clean Room, the top visible platter had light contamination on it but that was not the main issue. We removed the read/write heads from the drive and the heads were covered with contamination. From the looks of it, the heads came into contact with the platters for a while.☹️
