We got in a Western Digital 1TB (WD10JPVX-00JC3T0) drive. The drive took a fall and once they mounted the drive, there was no power. After diagnosing the drive, we immediately knew the issue. The drive was making beeping sounds which is almost always an in dictation of Stiction. We opened the drive in our Clean Room. The read/write heads caused major damage to the top visible platter. We’re sure the bottom platters are just as bad. 😕 Platter inspection is next. Let’s get to work!
