Opened a Western Digital (WD2500AAJS-750A0) 250GB in our Clean Room. The customer mentioned there was an outage while the drive was connected through a server. They mentioned the drive was making strange sounds. After opening the drive, the main issue was that the read/write heads crashed on top of the platters. Although this is a more serious issue, there were no visible scratches on the platter that we saw so far. Next is to inspect the read/write heads! Let’s go!
